Position Summary

The Product Development Associate supports the development and optimization of formulations and processes to achieve desired product performance. It also focuses on replacing or enhancing existing technologies with more readily available, lower cost, and enhanced performance materials.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Understand customers’ application of our products, and perform analytical testing required for the successful evaluation and processing of products in the intended markets
  • Explore, evaluate and test new raw materials to optimize existing formulations and/or develop new formulations while keeping easy processability and excellent performance in mind
  • Develop specifications for new formulations based upon a statistical methodology
  • Support the full R&D cycle of internal and external technical projects including but not limited to design, data collection and analysis, as well as reporting
  • Attend field scale trials and testing to support customers’ processing of new products
  • Compile, analyze, and interpret products test results and quality control data to assess improvement opportunities within current process parameters
  • Develop and implement lab procedures and methods to assure compliance with established quality control systems
  • Keep abreast and advise company of the industry’s technological advancements in product formulation, use, and process applications
  • Adhere to all established company and corporate policies, procedures, and governmental regulations pertaining to lab and plant safety, environmental issues, and quality standards
  • Assist with the proper maintenance and calibration of lab equipment and analytical instruments
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Material Science, or Engineering with 5+ years experience in a like industry with knowledge of investment casting is preferred.

  • Handles confidential information effectively and responsibly
  • Prior knowledge of instrumentation including GC, TGA, DSC, Rheometer and DMA is highly preferred
  • Problem solving and reasoning ability, can mentally process and comprehend complex issues involving multiple variables
  • Strong computer skills, including the use of Microsoft Office 365, ERPs (Oracle experience preferred) and SPC (Minitab experience preferred)
  • Determination and assertiveness to accomplish goals and objectives
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; can effectively communicate with all levels within the organization, customers, and corporate officials
  • Detail oriented with a high degree of accuracy
  • Strong time management skills
  • Ability to travel periodically as needed
